Why should you not choose the same alias for different email ids on different domains?

Many people have multiple email ids. One of them would be public and the other would be secret. Unfortunately, it would be like this... xyz@gmail.com and xyz@yahoo.com. If they create future ids, it would go something like xyz@indiatimes.com, xyz@rocketmail.com and so on.

What is notable here is that all ids have the first part same "xyz" regardless of the domain.

Naming ids in this fashion is not advisable because spammers are well aware of this trend and so if one of your ids is known to spammers, for example, xyz@yahoo.com, they will then also send xyz@gmail.com, xyz@msn.com, xyz@mail.com, etc and so on to whatever common domain names are present.

Instead if you have an email id xyz@yahoo.com and abc@gmail.com and pqr@msn.com, then definitely you are going to get less spams.

It is a good idea not to have a regular first name for your id. Spammers also send mails to common names tom@yahoo.com, john@yahoo.com, ram@yahoo.com, etc.

Hope this tip helps.
